SONGS FOR THE JOURNEY
Songs have accompanied me along the road —
through remembering, relationship, loss, love, stillness and becoming.
The name Songlines is offered with reverence for my Aboriginal ancestors, and for the ancient understanding
that song, story, land and journey are woven together.
These songs are not traditional Songlines.
They are my own songs from the road I have walked — traces of where I have been, what I have loved,
and what life has taught me.
May they accompany you for a little while on the road that is yours.
Some songs are written
Others are walked
Between the songs are thresholds.
Small places of reflection —
moments to stop, listen, and notice what the journey may be asking of us.
Some carry a song.
Others are simply places to cross.

The first journey is the journey home.
Before relationship, before service, there is the quiet remembering of who we are.
These songs follow that journey — from belonging, through remembering,
into living what the heart has discovered.
Not a journey toward becoming someone else.
A journey toward what has always been here.

We begin by learning to walk our own path.
Then, somewhere along the way,
another walks beside us.
Love becomes a mirror.
What we have remembered within ourselves
is now asked to live between us.
And the journey home
becomes the journey together.

RELATIONSHIP
Love does not hold on.
Love teaches us to flow together.
The journey changes when another walks beside us.
What was discovered within is now revealed through relationship —
in tenderness and vulnerability, in joy and longing, in forgiveness and surrender.
Relationship becomes a mirror, showing us where we still protect,
where we still hold, and where love is asking us to open.
These songs belong to that journey.
Not a journey toward losing ourselves in another, but toward discovering how two lives can meet, love, and remain free.

What we discover within ourselves, and learn through one another,
eventually asks to be given away.
The journey continues.
There comes a moment when the path is no longer only about finding ourselves or learning to walk beside another.
The question changes.
Not —
What can life give me?
But —
What can I give to life?
The song leaves the singer.
Love leaves the safety of the heart.
And what has been remembered begins to move through our hands.

In how we love.
In how we care for the Earth.
In what we choose to protect.
